What do you do?
Currently, I am the COO at Greenhouse, a co-working space located in Jakarta, Indonesia.
How did you get into it?
My background covers about 8 years of experience in the hospitality industry as well as 4 years of experience as a serial entrepreneur. Greenhouse was the natural outcome as it blends entrepreneurship, events and hospitality.
What’s your secret superpower?
I guess my resilience. Many of my friends joke that I have been through hell to get where I am today and to some extent they are right. I have sacrificed a lot but always bounced back. Especially in entrepreneurship, this is an important trait as you are constantly faced with challenges. My ability to cope with those challenges is my secret superpower.
How do you define “growth hacking”?
In my opinion, growth hacking has to do a lot with being analytical and working smart. Analytical boils down to running a series of experiments, measuring the outcome and moving forward with the most effective solution. Working smart is about figuring out unconventional methods to scale your efforts and produce the maximum output.
What has been the best experience of your life?
The pivotal point when I jumped into tech entrepreneurship. I used to work for years in the hospitality sector because I love to travel and saw the tourism sector as an opportunity to travel the world while developing my career. However, once I started my first startup and faced the good, the bad and the ugly of startups I realized that entrepreneurship is my calling.
What was your biggest growth/business challenge and how did you overcome it?
My biggest growth challenge was when I transitioned my career from hospitality to entrepreneurship. I needed to learn so much and to rewire my way of thinking. To cope with that, my business partner and I, started an incubator and launched 3 startups simultaneously. The workload was massive but we were eager to learn and soon discovered how we are slowly turning into thought leaders in our region of operations. Three years later we won all major startup competitions in Denmark, securing a total of $600,000 in innovation-related awards.
